Swan Walk shopping centre has remained open throughout the lockdown to enable trading from seven essential stores, according to Gill Buchanan, centre manager.
She said enhanced cleaning routines have been in place from the start covering key touchpoints such as lift buttons and door handles in order to maintain hygiene.

“To enable social distancing and safe shopping for all and to protect centre and store teams, during the week commencing June 8 the centre will be introducing a one way shopping route through much of the centre.”
The centre is aware the ‘new normal’ will be a big change for customers, according to Gill.
She said: “Clear floor graphics will be in place with Swan Walk teams at entrances and in the malls to direct customers as they adapt their shopping journey through both the centre and the town.

“Other parts of the centre will have keep left messaging in place at this time and the date for the full opening of the toilets is yet to be confirmed.”
The disabled toilets are currently available to all customers, the Changing Places facility to disabled customers and their carers and the baby change is open as normal, Gill confirmed.
She added: “We very much look forward to seeing our regular and loyal customers returning to Swan Walk and the wider town centre but would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to shop alone wherever possible, allow extra time for their shopping trip and to refer to our website for up to date store opening details.”
