Tickets are just £2 and 10 per cent of the money raised will go to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, near Arundel, and St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing.

Amy, who was brought up in Worthing, chose the children’s hospice as her official charity after leaving Love Island last year, having been supporting both Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House since she was a child.

She said: “Even when I was younger, when anyone asked what charity I wanted to support, I always said Chestnut Tree House, so I’m really happy to get more involved and help support this amazing cause.”

The Dream Home Prize Draw was launched on Monday, July 20, and will run until August 31. The winner will be given the keys to Painter’s Keep, a detached four-bedroom house on the private Kingston Gorse estate.

Stamp duty up to £91,250 is covered, including second home duty and legal fees up to a maximum of £1,200.

And it is all thanks to the generosity of Peter Pearce, who stepped in to support the charities after the launch of a Crisis Appeal.

Sarah Colbourne, head of fundraising, said: “When the coronavirus crisis struck, our monthly fundraising income plummeted by 70 per cent due to events being cancelled and the closure of our shops.

“Although constraints are easing and we have been overwhelmed by the support from our local community, we still need help to make up the shortfall.

“Local hospice care simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our community, and we are incredibly grateful for Peter’s support with this initiative.

“This is the first time someone has offered to support us by running a prize draw with their house! Thank you to everyone for their support – without you, we wouldn’t be able to continue to care for adults, children and families when they need it most.”

Peter was happy to help, as his father was given end-of-life care at St Barnabas House 12 years ago.

He said: “St Barnabas is an important place to my mother, sister and I, and a cause very close to our hearts as they did such a wonderful job caring for my father at the end of his life.

“But I am also aware of the vital role Chestnut Tree House plays for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, which is why I wanted to support both hospices. They rely heavily on community support, through donations and fundraising, and Covid-19 has had a huge impact on their fundraising income.

“The concept of the prize draw is simple – as long as a certain number of tickets are sold, someone will win the house. Tickets are available only for a limited time, as I want the winner to be able to move in as soon as possible to make the most of the house, and in turn I can make the donation to the hospices.”

Peter has owned Painter’s Keep, a hidden gem with panoramic views of the sea and the South Downs, for 20 years and an extensive 12-month refurbishment was carried out in 2018. He sees the prize draw as a way to move on while potentially changing someone’s life, and giving something back to his local hospices at the same time.

There is also no limit to the number of tickets you can buy and one free entry per person is permitted, with all entries treated equally. If the minimum amount of £150,000 for the charities is not reached, there will be a cash prize based on 80 per cent of net sales and the hospices will receive 10 per cent of gross ticket sales.

Built in 1925, it was the estate’s water tower and was converted to a dwelling in 1955. This was when it first acquired its distinctive name of Painter’s Keep, though it is known locally as The Tower.

Entering the property you are greeted with an impressive entrance hall. To the left is a large living room with French doors that open on to the south facing patio and garden and windows to the north looking out over the fields.

Kitchen

To the right you enter the modern kitchen. Like the living room, the kitchen has French doors opening onto the south facing patio and the north windows look out over the fields. Beautifully equipped with two MasterChef Neff slide and hide ovens, an amazing Tesla induction hob, Neff dishwasher and integrated fridge freezer, as well as a large island and space for a dining table or sofa space to complete the picture.

Utility room

A door via the utility room (fitted with storage units, sink, washing machine and tumble dryer) provides access to the beautiful outside, or as an easy way in after long country walks, with damp dogs or muddy boots.
