Man arrested and phones and cigarettes seized in raid on newsagent


A man was arrested and cigarettes and mobile phones seized after police raided a newsagent in Crawley.

Officers attended the Best One Store, in The Broadway, on Saturday (April 18) at 9.40pm.

A 36-year-old Crawley man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and using a false instrument under the fraud act.

He has been released on bail until June 23.

The spokesman added: “A quantity of cigarettes and mobile phones were seized from the shop and enquiries are continuing to identify the lawful owners.”
