New centre to make volunteering in Crawley easy

A new service for people who want to contribute to the town’s vibrant community life has been launched.

Volunteer Crawley drop-in centre new drop-in centre based at The Orchard in Brighton Road, Southgate is a new, free service which can match volunteering opportunities to residents’ interests.

There are dozens of charities, clubs and community groups which regularly need volunteers and Volunteer Crawley is making it even easier for people who want to volunteer in their neighbourhood.

Co-ordinator Shelley Jones said: “Volunteering doesn’t have to mean regular shifts at a charity shop or attending regular committee meetings.

“There are a wealth of one-off events and activities people can be involved in, whether that’s cleaning up a local park, helping out at one of Crawley’s annual cultural events, or even fundraising for a local charity.

“Volunteering gives you the chance to give something back, pass on your skills or learn something new, and your time and efforts will make a difference to someone, no matter what you choose to do.”
