New data has revealed how many Covid-19 deaths there have been in the Mid Sussex area.

The Office of National Statistics said up until April 24 (including deaths registered up to May 2) 97 people have died in Mid Sussex with Covid-19.

ONS data released on Friday also broke down 59 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the area from March 1 to April 17 by neighbourhood.

The ONS data includes deaths where coronavirus (Covid-19) was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

It excludes neonatal deaths (deaths under 28 days) and only includes deaths registered by April 18.

There were 258 deaths from all causes across the same period – 23.3 per cent of those were linked to Covid-19.
