Part of Crawley house collapses in high winds

High winds in Crawley meant a busy day for firefighters after trees came down and part of a house collapsed.

A crew was called to Chevening Close, Broadfield, at around 6.20pm on Tuesday (May 5) after the gable end of a derelict semi-detached house collapsed.

Shortly after 8pm, hydraulic equipment was used to cut away a tree which had fallen on a car parked in a driveway in Moorcroft Close, West Green.

Earlier that afternoon, at around 1.30pm, the facia boards of three houses in Sargent Close, Tilgate, were damaged by a fallen tree.
