Schoolboy fisherman’s monster catch in lake near Horsham

A schoolboy ended up the envy of fishermen at a lake near Horsham when he hooked a whopper on his first ‘real outing’ since lockdown.

Proud mum Emma Bradley had to persuade son Harrison to go on a fishing trip to Sumners Ponds in Barns Green because of a ‘rough ride’ they had been through since the coronavirus pandemic struck.

“Harrison hadn’t left the house except for a walk etc,” said Emma. “I begged him to come with me to go fish at Sumners Ponds together, just me and him, something we used to do very often.

“He agreed. We got there at 7am and had an amazing day fishing and he caught this beautiful fish and was the envy of the lake.

“We talked, we drank tea and laughed - something that has been lacking lately.”

Harrison’s whopper weighed in at an impressive 22lbs.
