With a few of its older members deciding to retire, the society needs people to help with the maintenance at Ifield Mill.

The mill dates back to 1660 and is believed to be the only working watermill in West Sussex still powered by its original water source – the Ifield millpond.

Volunteers are also needed to assist museum staff by acting as guides on open days.

Some one is also needed urgently to take on the editorship and production of the museum’s newsletter.

A spokesman said: “If you feel you can help, or are interested in any of these roles – the editor/publisher role could be shared, and even casual mill help would be valued – then we would love to hear from you.”

With the coronavirus lockdown having a major impact on many of our local valued advertisers - and consequently the advertising that we receive - we are more reliant than ever on you helping us to provide you with news and information by buying a copy of our newspapers.

Our journalists are highly trained and our content is independently regulated by IPSO to some of the most rigorous standards in the world. But being your eyes and ears comes at a price. So we need your support more than ever to buy our newspapers during this crisis.

Stay safe, and best wishes.
