Queues of up to four miles are being reported on the M23 after a tipper truck overturned this afternoon (Thursday December 10).

Emergency services were called to Junction 9 near Gatwick at 1.30pm.

Police said the road had been blocked after a tipper truck towing a trailer overturned, shedding its load along the motorway.

All three lanes were blocked as a ‘large quantity’ of cement bags were scattered across the road. The driver was uninjured.

The lanes remain closed and the road is still being cleared.

Police are diverting traffic along the hard shoulder.
