For those under 16, new homes developer Thakeham and Tilgate Nature Centre have launched a wildlife art competition; children and young people are invited to submit their original artwork that illustrates their favourite animal at Tilgate Nature Centre – whether that’s a parrot, an otter, a wallaby or something else that captures their attention. All forms of art will be accepted except sculpture, judges will be looking for creative flair and imagination and one winner will be chosen.

All artwork should be submitted by email to [email protected], along with the artist’s name, age and school.

For young people and adults who want to get involved, Thakeham and Tilgate Nature Centre are inviting people to test their knowledge with an egg quiz, identifying which egg belongs to which animal.

The egg quiz worksheet can be downloaded from https://www.mywoodgate.co.uk/news/easter-competition/ and completed worksheets submitted to [email protected]. The winner will be chosen from a prize draw of correctly-answered worksheets.

Entries will close at midnight on Thursday 1st April and winners will be announced on Friday 2nd April.

The open spaces at Woodgate will include play areas, trails, pathways and cycle routes linking the development to the surrounding 370-acre Tilgate Forest and wider local area – improving access to nature. Forthcoming amenities at Woodgate, alongside the village green, include a new primary school, a hospice centre and a community hub and café, as well as the village shop.
