A person has died after being hit by a train at Balcombe station, police have confirmed.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said officers were called to Balcombe station at 1.22pm yesterday, January 26, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
She added: “Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the file will be prepared for the coroner.”
All lines were closed due to the incident, Southern Rail said.
