Pett and Pett Level

Pett WI: At the meeting of Pett WI on Friday July 17 members heard a fascinating talk about Pett Level from local historian, John Taylor. With photographs and maps going back to the early part of the last century, John certainly showed that the ‘Level’ had an interesting and varied history.

Pett Flower Show: Well, what a Saturday to look forward to! Not only is there the Pett Flower Show and Fayre on Saturday July 25 from 2-4pm at the Recreation Ground but also of course there is the Pett Summer Dance in the marquee on the Saturday night! Deejay Hambo will play music ancient and modern, from the sixties to the present day. Bring your own food and drink and a suggested donation of £5 per person. All proceeds will go to Pett Recreation Ground New Pavilion Fund.

Church Services: On Sunday July 26 – Holy Communion, St Mary & St Peter, Pett at 9:30am led by Richard Barron; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Village Choir: On Monday July 27 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

Pett Older People’s Project: On Tuesday July 28 POPP will feature slides and a presentation. The session runs from 10:30am to 2pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Mobile Library: The next visit will be on Tuesday July 28 when it will stop outside Pett Church from 12:05pm until 12:35pm.

Pickham Farm Open Garden: On Sunday August 2 from 11am to 3pm, Pickham Farm will be opening its garden. Why not come and have a stroll through the beautiful garden? You can admire the flower beds, vegetable patch and have a look at the cob shed with its living roof. Or how about seeing how many frogs you can spot in the pond? There are also rabbits, hens and even a tortoise, as well as horses, pigs and sheep.

There will be donkey rides from Alice and Rosie and Farmer Tim will be giving trailer tractor rides. There will also be stalls including plants for sale, second hand books, tea and cake and a raffle. You can even treat yourself to a lovely shiatsu massage for the bargain price of £10.

So why not bring your family and a picnic and enjoy a great day out with all proceeds going to Farm Africa? Please note though that as it is a working farm, no dogs are allowed.

Icklesham Casuals Football Club: The club is training for the new season at Icklesham Recreation Ground every Wednesday evening from 6.30 p.m.

The club, which runs two adult Saturday teams playing in Divisions 2 and 5 of the East Sussex Football League as well as a veterans side, was formed in 1937 and has a proud history, which includes maintaining a reputation for playing sporting football, a reputation that remains today with the 2nd team, made up of a number of very promising young local players, winning the East Sussex League Sportsmanship Trophy last season while the 1st team led the sportsmanship marks in their division. The veterans side were champions of the local Hastings Veterans League.
