Phone mast plan refused

PLANNING permission for a phone mast at Nutley has been refused.Members of Wealden District Council's Development Control North Sub-Committee refused the application for Tyelands Farm, Chelwood Gate Road, Nutley.

The plan was to place the mast in a 21-metre fake Scots pine tree within a fenced compound.

But the sub-committee refused the application because of the height of the mast and its potential visual impact.

Planning officers decided that other sites should have been explored and there were concerns about proximity of the mast to a school and residential dwellings.

The committee also refused an application to convert and extend 19 High Street, Uckfield, into two three-bedroom flats, demolish a yard store and erect a mews property to the rear consisting of a pair of two-bedroom flats.

Members felt it would be over-development.

An application to build six semi-detached dwellings on land between Browns Lane and Hempstead Road, Uckfield, was approved subject to conditions relating to landscaping and tree preservation.
