Plans for safer crossing and slower traffic in Pound Hill

West Sussex County Council has come up with a scheme to slow traffic along the busy road.

Improvements include:

A signal controlled pedestrian crossing near the Worth Way bridleway

A pedestrian crossing 60 metres west of Hazelhurst Drive

Traffic calming east of Hazelhurst Drive, narrowing the road to a width of 5.5 metres.

The scheme was drawn up after the local community said it needed to reduce the speed of traffic there.

The council intends to introduce the £60,000 improvement scheme in the 2016/17 financial year.

A drop-in session is being held to show these proposals to the public on:

Tuesday July 21, 12-9pm - St Edward the Confessor Parish Hall, Hillcrest Close, Pound Hill.

Officers from WSCC will be available to answer questions, listen to views and accept comments.

For anyone who cannot make the date, the plans will be on display at Crawley Library in Southgate Avenue, Crawley, until Friday, August 28.
