Police call for nightclub licence to be revoked

Sussex Police has called for JJ Whispers nightclub, in Crawley, to have its licence revoked.

Writing on Twitter, Jean Irving, licensing and public safety manager for Sussex Police, said: “Review application served today on JJ Whispers nightclub in Crawley.

“A review application is a formal request to the council to look at the licence and the way the premises is being run.

“We have requested the licence of JJ Whispers in Crawley is revoked.

“This is following many incidents of drunkenness and people getting hurt.

“Revocation is a serious step and to request this is not taken lightly but Sussex Police will take action to ensure we keep people safe.”

JJ Whispers director John Stewart Simpson said: “The allegations are totally unfounded and this application will be vigorously defended.”
