Advice for Crawley groups on funding and council grants

Crawley Borough Council hosted a new style drop in session for community and voluntary groups in Crawley, providing advice and information about grants and funding options.

Ten groups booked a free place at the Crawley Funding Drop-in event on Tuesday October 20. They received guidance from the council’s funding officer, the Crawley Community and Voluntary Service’s funding worker and the Sussex Community Foundation. If you are part of a local group or voluntary organisation that needs advice and help, or would like to attend a future event visit www.craw for information.

The drop in session gave community groups in Crawley a face-to-face opportunity to get advice and tips on how to apply for grants to carry out community projects that range from a community kitchen make over, running local neighbourhood events, getting volunteering support and equipment. The event was successful, with people attending expressing an interest in booking more events with the local funders.

Cabinet member for Community Engagement, Councillor Michael Jones said, “It’s vital that we support the work of community groups and local organisations as much as possible, to ensure that they can carry on the beneficial work that they do in the town.”
