Musical performances on the Bandstand entertained the crowds and donations were raised for the charity Help for Heroes.

But for many, the highlight of the day was a collection of vintage military vehicles, with some open for the public to explore.

Andrew Davidson, a flight lieutenant in the RAF from Capel, brought his own vintage ‘tank’ and happily showed children and adults the vehicle.

He said: “I get a kick out of driving the tank through the town centre - it has been brilliant.”

Air Cadets from Horsham Squadron climbed to new heights by providing a climbing wall for the celebration of Armed Forces Day.

Officer Commanding of 1015 (Horsham) Air Cadets, flying officer Richard Foster said: “The celebration of Armed Forces Day was a tremendous success, and we were delighted to help out by laying-on the climbing wall.

“It proved to be hugely popular and we hope that everyone that had a go enjoyed themselves.

“This was a fantastic event hosted by Horsham District Council, it shows the council’s commitment to the local armed services, and we hope to be able to help out next year should it return.”
