Places for People Leisure, formerly DC Leisure, runs Horsham’s Pavilions in the Park, and leisure centres in Steyning, Billingshurst and Broadbridge Heath on behalf of Horsham District Council.

The current ten-year contract to manage the first three would expire at the end of 2022, but HDC’s Cabinet will be asked to approve the option of a five-year extension next Thursday (March 24).

Since Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre (BBHLC) is due to be demolished with a replacement built on the same site, PfPL only has a five-year contract to operate the facility up to 2017, but a new contract would include running all four centres.

An officers’ report explains: “The final offer from PfP results in a significant additional leisure management revenue contribution to the council over the extended term of the contract.

“This is in accordance with the benefits expected from running a new purpose built facility with its associated efficiency and income generating opportunities.

“It also guarantees the council an improved overall management fee which is considered to be comparable with estimated figures if the council were to undertake a procurement exercise for the same proposal.”
