County looks at London 2012 Olymic and Paralympic benefits

WEST Sussex’s preparations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be under the spotlight at the County Council’s Strategic Environmental Services Select Committee next month.

It will receive a report explaining the progress of West Sussex activity related to the Games since the committee last looked at the matter in January 2009.

Committee Chairman Duncan Crow said: “The county council has been leading a co-ordinated approach, working with a wide range of partners, in identifying and securing direct benefits to West Sussex from the 2012 Games.

“I’m sure the committee and the wider public will be interested to hear of the progress being made as we move towards the Games next year. The committee will be looking to see if the benefits to West Sussex of the Olympics and Paralympics are being maximised.”

The Committee meets on Wednesday July 6, at 10.30am, in County Hall, West Street, Chichester.
