Crawley council could open town hall coffee shop

Crawley Borough Council could open a coffee shop.

S&P Architects have been working up concept designs for a revamp at Town Hall.

A council spokesman said ‘potentially introducing a coffee shop or other community uses’ was a key part of their brief.

Remodelling and improving access to the ground floor reception and freeing up office space to be hired by third parties by ‘improving and consolidating’ existing space for council staff were also key aspects.

Councillors, officers and visitors had been consulted on the refurbishment.

The spokesman said: “Consideration of the concept designs will form part of the council’s budget setting process in the spring of 2016.

“If it is agreed to proceed with the refurbishment, there would be a period of detailed design development during the second half of 2016 with works on site starting in 2017.”
