Popular horse ploughing

HEAVY horses will again be a star attraction at West Grinstead's ploughing match on Saturday September 18. Pairs will be turning out again to compete against each other in the annual event, and they are certain to attract the crowds.

Each year they compete for the Charles Lambert Perpetual Challenge Cup and the class is sponsored buy H J Burt & Son, who help with transport costs of competitors.

Classes for open horse ploughing and also for best turned out team are in memory of Charles and Joan Lambert and heavy horses, commonly called ‘gentle giants’ because of their good temperament and size, will swing into action at Clothalls Farm this year at 10.30am.
