Rail delays between Three Bridges and Haywards Heath to last until end of the day

Trains will be running at reduced speeds between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges until the end of the day, Southern Rail has said.

The rail service provider said the disruption had been caused by a defective track in the Balcombe Tunnel area.

It is affecting all lines between the two stations and some services are currently experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes. They are expected to last until the end of the day.

A spokesman for Southern Rail said: “Network Rail, who own and maintain the track are aware of the fault and have imposed a speed restriction until the track can be repaired, while work has taken place overnight time did not allow a full repair and so for safety, a speed restriction will remain in place throughout today (Wednesday).
