RAIL UPDATE: Services cancelled after emergency works

Southern Rail has announced some train services travelling to Horsham have been cancelled due to emergency works on line.

Emergency engineering works were carried out at Ford earlier this morning (October 2) causing delays of up to an hour.

In a statement Southern Rail explained: “Following emergency engineering work earlier today at Ford, the line has reopened however services have to run at a reduced speed until the end of service.

“The reduced speed limit reduces the capacity of the line so in or to prevent congestion the following will apply:

“The two minutes past London Victoria to Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis will not split at Horsham and run complete to Bognor Regis. The Portsmouth Harbour portion of the train will not run.

“The 32 minutes past the hour London Victoria to Southampton Central/Bognor Regis will not split at Horsham and all the coaches will call all stations between Horsham and Barnham and then onto Bognor Regis. The Southampton Central portion of the train will not run.

“The 12 minutes past each hour services from Portsmouth Harbour to Horsham will not run

“The 13 minutes past each hour services Southampton Central to Horsham will not run.”

A statement released by National Rail said delays of up to 30 minutes are being experienced but the disruption is expected to last until 11pm.

Passengers are being advised to use Stagecoach on Route 700 between Brighton and Portsmouth Harbour and also South West Trains on any reasonable route.

National Rail has also said buses will replace cancelled services.
