Residents join Crawley K2 in celebration of £300k upgrade

Crawley K2 was a hive of activity on Saturday (January 16) as the leisure centre held an open day to mark the completion of a £300,000 upgrade of the gym there.

K2 Crawley, which is operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Crawley Borough Council, held a free ‘fitness fiesta’ giving residents a chance to come and try out the new facilities.

The refurbishment of K2 Crawley’s gym included a comprehensive upgrade of the cardiovascular equipment to the latest, interactive Technogym UNITY™ machines.

There are now more than 100 stations in the gym, which also received extra benches in the free weight area.

Cabinet member for wellbeing Chris Mullins, who officially opened the facilities, said: “This is a really exciting development for K2 Crawley and extends the offer for leisure centre users.

“The equipment was already popular and well received at Saturday’s open day.”

Andrea Bianchi, managing director of Technogym, added: “K2 Crawley Leisure Centre is a fantastic facility that promotes and provides a healthy lifestyle to so many people in the community.

Crawley mayor Chris Cheshire was able to try out the centre’s upgraded the disability offering, which now boasts seven new pieces of easy-use inclusive fitness equipment.
