Road reopened after bus hits railway bridge in Haywards Heath

A road has reportedly reopened after a bus crash this morning, which left two people injured.

Sussex Police said officers received a report of a double-decker bus colliding with the Rocky Lane railway bridge at 6.42am today (Tuesday April 27).

A police spokesman said earlier: “The driver and one of the passengers on board suffered injuries and are being treated by medical staff.

“The road is closed in both directions and Network Rail have been made aware.”

Inspector Darren Taylor of Mid Sussex Police said: “The team, along with our fire and ambulance colleagues, have had to attend Rocky Lane this morning as a bus has misjudged the bridge and hit the bridge, damaging its top level.”

Traffic reports now show the road is open.

The bus was photographed in the afternoon by Eddie Mitchell as it was being towed on the A23.
