On Saturday 8th August, St Mary’s is joining in with the Hastings and Rother Worship week end when over 60 churches, retreats and faith communities from Hastings, Bexhill and many villages in Rural Rother will be passing a `Worship Baton` and unite in 60 hours of continuous praise and prayer. Salehurst receives the baton at 8am and will be joined by members of the Community Church and Holy Trinity, Hurst Green in an hour of worship at St Mary’s. Everyone is welcome to go along and join in, if you would like further information about this please contact 880238.

Robertsbridge Club: are presenting Lipstick and Beat Nicks on Saturday August 8th.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: is holding a Boot Sale on Sunday 16th August at Robertsbridge Football Field. Book early by ringing 880468.

Annual subs are due before the end of August, if you haven’t paid or joined now is the time.

`Open Gardens`: in aid of St Mary’s`. This is the other end of the village to earlier in the year and will be on Saturday 22nd August, more details to follow.

STOOLBALL: Scorpions were put into bat last Tuesday at Claverham by skipper Richard Apps on a cold and overcast evening. Stuart[1] was run out on the second ball as was Lorraine[3] in the second over but a stand of 45 between Eric[46n.o.] and Angela[18] was broken when Angela was run out. Jenny[4] was caught by young Jack Dean off the bowling of Graham Clark[1-10] and the next ball saw Mina[0] run out by some good fielding. Eric had to retire with a pulled hamstring the score on 92 and when Aaron[9] was caught and bowled by Keith Apps[1-4] the hosts were on 108-6 but young May[11n.o.] and Pete[23n.o.] took the hosts onto 140-6 from their 10 overs. Keith[2] was caught in the second over but Abigail Fifield[21] and JJ Boast[58] put on 52 before Abigail was bowled. JJ and Penny Clark[4] were out in the 8th over with 90 on the board and when Lisa Fifield[3] went 6 runs later we were on 95-5 but skipper Richard[14n.o.], young Charlie Apps[2] and Jackie Kuhler[1n.o.] saw us to 115-6 to lose by 25 runs. Thursday saw the Ladies play at Hooe with the hosts batting first. Gill[16] and Ginette[86n.o.] put on 52 before Gill was bowled by Penny Clark[1-5] and then Anna[22n.o.] joined Ginette to finish their 10 overs on 137-1. Our reply started badly when Abigail Fifield was out second ball without scoring but a second wicket partnership of 85 between Jack Dean[27] and skipper Melinda Mackay[69n.o.] steadied the innings before Jack was bowled with the score on 86 and then Jackie Kuhler[1] was caught two balls later it was left to Lou Taylor[5n.o.] to see the overs out as we finished on 110-3 just 27 runs short. The Ladies played at Brightling Tournament and played the hosts first in a 4 over match. Melinda Mackay[21] and Abigail Fifield[25n.o.] put on 48 for the first wicket and then Penny Clark[12] took our score to 77. We bowled and fielded well with Carolyn[38n.o.] and Jo[25n.o.] taking the hosts to 69-0 as we won by 8 runs. Pett were our next opponents but we lost Mel[1] and Abigail[0] in the first over while Penny[9], Charlie Apps[8n.o.] and Lou[7n.o.] got us to 30-3 and in reply Pett were never in trouble as Erin[23n.o.] and Clare[27n.o.] reached 65 for victory. Our final match was against Icklesham and batting first Mel[32n.o.] and Abigail[26n.o.] saw us reach 62 while Icklesham’ Tamsin[35n.o.] and Rachel[37n.o.] gave them victory by 8 runs. Thursday[30th] the Mixed are away to Hooe at 6.45p.m.
