Rustington school basketball team "reigns victorious"

RUSTINGTON school pupils bounced away with a massive trophy on Wednesday, when they won an inter-school basketball tournament.

Georgian Gardens Community Primary School, in Guilford Road, beat 13 other junior and primary schools at the tournament, held at the Angmering School.

Sue Sunderland, of the school, said everyone was very proud of the eight-strong team's efforts.

"We are absolutely elated, it is fantastic. They worked so hard, and spent a lot of their own time training.

"The basketball club is run in the mornings, and the team are always here at 8am."

She added that the tournament saw some tremendous basketball from all teams.

"There are a lot of girls that play the game, and we even have a girls only after-school basket ball club."

A total of seven games were played and the Georgian Gardens team, of year five and six pupils, lost only one.

The runners up was the St Margaret's Primary School, Angmering team

Sue added that the final result had been very close, as both schools won the same number of games, and the winner was decided on point difference.
