Rye College celebrates its high achievers

RYE College welcomed back the Class of 2010 to celebrate their achievements.

There was lots to celebrate as this year’s students produced the best ever GCSE results for the college.

The evening was attended by 200 people, including staff, students, parents, the Mayor and Mayoress and other supporters of Rye College.

As well as awards for excellence in various subjects, there were also House awards, prizes for Head Boy and Head Girl, The most improved student, The Hither Green award for overcoming the odds, the Liz Baldwin Award for contribution to the College and The Ann Mair Award for Contribution to the Community.

The guest speaker for the evening was James Morgan; Bronze Medal winning Paralympic Rower who delivered an inspirational speech about goal setting. There were also visual presentations of some precious memories in the form of embarrassing Year 7 photos, and photos of students having a brilliant time at the Prom.

Learning manager Donna Starkey said: “It is always good to see students after they have begun their post-16 journey, but the Class of 2010 were a particularly special group of students due to their exceptional talents, varied personalities and excellent achievements.

“They will be very fondly remembered by everyone at Rye College. It was a wonderful evening that was enjoyed by all.”
