Crawley Town have signed midfielder Lee Fowler on a three-month loan deal from Conference side Nuneaton.
The 31-year-old has been added to the Reds’ squad ahead of tomorrow’s League One clash with Preston North End at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
Fowler won promotion with both Fleetwood and Doncaster in recent years and was a mainstay in the Kiddiminster Harriers side after joining them in the summer of 2013, but made a switch to non-league Nuneaston on a free last August.
The Welshman has made more than 300 professional appearances and scored 13 goals. He worked under Crawley boss Dean Saunders at Wrexham and Doncaster.
Saunders said: “I have worked with Lee before and I know his qualities. He is the sort of player who can make us tick in midfield.
“This is a good opportunity for him to prove his ability at League One level. He’s a bit like Dean Morgan in that regard and I believe he can make a big contribution between now and the end of the season.”
Fowler started his career as a trainee at Coventry in 1999 and has had spells at Huddersfield, Scarborough, Burton, Newport County, Forest Green and Kettering.
The emergency loan signing is with Reds for 93 days.
