Sean's good health

Having a good time for good reason is a great way to spend Friday night.

With that in mind a charity wine tasting will be held at Kerry’s Wine Bar on the Marina to raise funds for Clic Sargent which campaigns for children with cancer.

This is the idea of manager Paul Curtis’s partner Mandy Dade because Mandy’s son Sean, now 19, was diagnosed with a brain tumour three years ago on the day he was to start his GCSE exams.

Sean has got through the operation and radiotherapy and is still receiving treatment but has made a recovery, so much so that he will attend the fundraiser organised by his mum.

Mandy said: “Clic Sargent is very important to me and Sean because they supported us immensely.

“When I was struggling immensely with journeys and travelling for treatment they would sort it out. Now we want to do something for them to say thank you.”

The event kicks off at 7pm on Friday May 6 and for every £10 ticket sold at least £5 will be given to Clic Sargent.

There will be advice from a local wine expert and automatic entry into a raffle for a champagne fish and chips supper. Call 07791143008 for details.
