The incident took place between 1am and 2am on 13 September in Victoria Road. Following an altercation, the suspect is alleged to have headbutted the victim, causing him to fall to the ground, where he was kicked in the back and chest.

The suspect then pushed his fingers into the victim’s eyes, causing a severely swollen left eye and burst blood vessels. The victim, who is in his 30s, also suffered bruising to his chest and forehead.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 6 tall, of medium build, with short brown hair and was wearing a tee-shirt.

Detective Constable Colin Snell, who is investigating the incident, said: “The victim was left with a nasty eye injury following this assault which appears to have occurred after he became involved in some sort of altercation with the suspect and his group of friends.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, anyone who recognises the person in the e-fit, or anyone with any other information, to come forward as soon as possible so that I can progress my enquiries.”
