Serious collision near East Sussex village: motorcycle rider taken to hospital

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious collision outside the village of Cooksbridge near Lewes.

Police said the collision involved a red Nissan Juke and a blue Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle in Town Littleworth Road.

Thy said that the incident happened at about 5.30pm on Monday, October 23, near The Rainbow Pub and Carvery.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “The motorcycle rider, a 55-year-old man from Lewes, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries, where he remains. The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old man from Burgess Hill, was not injured.”

Sergeant Mark Farrow from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are investigating the cause of the collision, and have asked for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward. This includes anyone with CCTV footage in the area, and any motorists with dashcam footage of the vehicles in the area at the time. Information can be reported to Sussex Police online, by calling 101, or email [email protected] and quote serial 948 of 23/10.”
