Sharp rise in Bexhill burglaries

ALTHOUGH overall crime in Bexhill has dropped, police are dealing with a massive 43 per cent increase in burglary.

Car crime is also causing concern.

Burglary hotspots at Pebsham and Old Town are being targeted.

Inspector Max Mosley said: "We are focusing our resources on those locations. Most of these burglaries have occurred during the afternoon and the late evening.

"Targeting offenders based on intelligence from members of the public is the best way forward in reducing crime.

"We must either take the offenders out of action by arresting them or making it so difficult for them to operate that they give up or move elsewhere."

Inspector Mosley says an overall drop in crime of five cent was achieved over the rolling year to December 31.

"That's 143 fewer victims than at this time last year."
