Rodger and Hammerstein’s South Pacific is set on South Sea Island during WWII  and tells the story of a young American navy nurse and an older French plantation owner living on the US-occupied island.

One of the many musical highlights of the show is Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair when Nellie Forbush, played by Amelia Regnante, washes her hair on stage for every performance.

As part of the prepration, dancing girls from the show took a trip to Worthing Beach to‘wash that man right out of their hair!’ The four girls - left to right, Kate Dumbrell, Hannah Stakim, Naomi Regnante and Megan Smith - are among the 40-strong company.

WMCS production manager Chris Keen, who also plays Emile de Becque in the show, said: “It is always a challenge using water on stage, but, unlike our recent production of Singin’ In The Rain, Amelia will be showering in a just a couple of buckets of water!”

The musical opens at the Connaught Theatre, Worthing, on Monday, May 16 and runs until Saturday, May 21 at 7.30pm and with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets on Worthing 206206.
