St George’s Day celebrations will be taking place in Crawley on Saturday April 23 with English music, dance, and workshops in Queens Square from 11am-3pm.

Various acts will be joining in the fun including the Slinfold Concert Band, Blackthorn Folk Band, Euphoric Dance Group, a St George and the Dragon marquee with a talk about St George and a dragon hat making workshop, Punch and Judy, and face painting. Metrobus will have a bus on display with more fun activities.

Decorations will stay up in the square for the Scouts annual St George’s Day Parade, which takes place the following day - Sunday 24 April. The weekend celebrations will signal the last time that the bandstand is used in the square before work starts on its redevelopment.

Councillor Michael Jones, cabinet member for community engagement, said: “It is important for us to celebrate our national identity and remember the patron saint of England, St George. We have arranged a fun range of activities and the day will provide a great day’s entertainment for all the town.”
