St Leonards motorbike rider dies in Battle crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision near Battle yesterday evening (Thursday, July 15).

At around 9.40pm a silver Hyundai heading north collided with a blue Triumph Bonneville motorbike on the A2100 Hastings Road in Telham.

Emergency services were called but sadly the rider of the motorcycle, a 65-year-old man from St Leonards, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His pillion passenger, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with life-threatening injuries.

The car driver, an 18-year-old man from St Leonards, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital.

The road was closed for about five hours while officers were on the scene and police would like to thank motorists for their patience.
