St Mary Mag's summer fair

HERE was a good reason why parents and staff at St Mary Magdalene's Roman Catholic Primary School were working so industriously on Saturday.

The Parent Teacher Association is embarking on a project. And it is an ambitious one, as chairman Trisha Davis explained as the summer fair was in full swing.

"We are raising money for the school grounds.

"We want to improve the facilities for the children.

"We want to make a special area for the Infants and build things like climbing equipment.

"It would involve an outside theatre plus a quiet area.

"We have the estimated cost - 8,000 to 10,000."

The fair was opened in style by the school's country dancers.

Features included a coconut shy, face-painting, tombolas, barbecue, bouncy castle, toy stall and pony rides.
