SUNSHINE BRINGS OUT ROGUES

THE warm weather brought out the rogue traders and bogus officials intent on preying on elderly or vulnerable folk, police report.

Officers are warning everyone to be vigilant and ask neighbours, carers or relatives to make sure any older folk they know are not left at the mercy of heartless thieves.

The latest incident happened at about 2pm on June 12 when two men convinced the elderly occupants of a house in Forest View Road, Hailsham, that they needed work to replace guttering and fascias.

They persuaded the householders to sign a contract and hand over a large amount of money to secure the arrangement. Bogus water board officials have also been operating the Wealden area.
