‘Superheroes’ invited to abseil down Crawley hotel

St Catherine’s Hospice is inviting thrill seekers to abseil 100 feet down the outside of the Sandman Signature hotel in Crawley.

St Catherine’s has chosen a superhero theme and people are invited to dress up as their favourite hero, or one of their own creation, as they descend the seven storey building.

Louise Brown, events fundraiser for St Catherine’s, said: “This is a really fun and unusual new challenge for thrill seekers who also want to make an important difference to local people.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing all of our abseillers, not to mention the fantastic costumes.

“If you have any questions about the event, please contact us, we’ll be very happy to help.

“We are aiming to raise a heroic £11,000 through the abseil, which will make a huge difference in helping us to reach the £5.5m we must raise every year to continue caring for local people with a terminal illness.”

Michael Easton, Human Resources Director at Elekta, sponsors of the abseil, said: “The St Catherine’s Hospice Abseil is a super new way to support a local charity. We know that the hospice makes a huge difference to people at one of the hardest times of life and we’re very proud to be able to sponsor this challenging and exciting event.”

The abseil is taking place on April 18. Registration is £25 with a required fundraising target of £150.

St Catherine’s is also holding a special corporate teams only day on April 17.

Any company that enters a team of 10 can also enter their CEO for free.
