SUPERMARKET STABBING UPDATE: KNIFE FOUND

POLICE searching for the knife used in a frenzied stabbing of a young woman in a Littlehampton supermarket this afternoon (Wednesday, September 17) found the weapon.

The knife was found in the Somerfield store in Anchor Springs, where the 20-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds almost 24 hours earlier.

She is being treated in a hospital in Southampton, where her condition is now described as "critical but stable".

A 21-year-old Bognor man remains in custody at Worthing.

Police have now completed their forensic investigation at the store.
