Sussex teenager attacked by gang of men

A TEENAGER was taken to hospital after he was set on by a gang of men in a seaside village.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 18-year-old was attacked while walking in Westlands, Rustington, at about 10.30pm on June 30.

Three men came up and asked him if he had a light.

“The gang then struck him on the back of the head and when he fell to the ground the gang punched and kicked him and searched his pockets but did not take anything,” said a police spokesman today (July 10).

A woman found the victim stumbling around the road shortly afterwards. He was then taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises.

Detective Constable Mandy Taylor said: “This was a nasty attack and I am trying to find anyone who saw what happened or who saw the victim stumbling around the area afterwards.

“In particular I would like to speak to a woman who came to his aid and asked if he needed help and anyone who saw the attackers leaving the area after the attack.
