Councillors voted all in favour for Crawley Borough Council to consult the soon to be launched Friends of Tilgate Park group and neighbouring local forums before undertaking any major works to the park at a meeting last night (Wednesday February 24).

Up to 90 people went to a Tilgate Forum meeting on February 4 after concerns were raised over Tilgate Golf Centre’s works.

Cllr Carol Eade (Con, Furnace Green) said: “While we understand the need for the management of the woodland, residents tell us it is the way it is being carried out and the sheer scale of the felling that is upsetting. We were shocked when we visited the golf course and saw it for ourselves.”
