He had become a father of four since he opened the business. He hoped its profits would help his family.

He said: “It’s like a child to me, when we leave the shop it’s going to be very sad but what can you do.

“[The space] was limiting but it was a good atmosphere with the customers.”

The new shop will have indoor seating.

The planning applicant, Anthony Vu’s agent, Wayne Poole said it was ‘swapping’ premises with an existing nail salon in the Broadwalk.

Council officers will determine the planning application (CR/2016/0032/FUL). It was registered on Wednesday (January 13).

A planning document stated the existing shop was ‘very narrow’ and proposed raising its roof.

Its design and access statement said: “The existing shop is very narrow and we are proposing to remove the internal toilet and re-position it to the rear of the property to maximize the available space.

“There is also a step down to the lower level of the shop which we propose to level off with the main part of the shop to make it more functional.

“The consequence of this is the need to raise the existing flat roof to make the ceiling height continuous with the main part of the shop.

“The existing entrance to the shop will remain unchanged but could be adapted to create a level threshold.”
