Flash flooding leads to a string of calls for help

Flash flooding caused by torrential rain has led to a string of calls for help to firefighters across north Sussex today.

Crews from West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called to pump away floodwater at properties in Horsham Road in Cowfold and at Henfield Road in Upper Beeding.

They were also called to flooding at a car park in Kennedy Road, Horsham. Firefighters there contacted Southern Water when the floodwater afftected the area’s sewer system, releasing raw sewage into the water.

Other calls for help came from properties in Copthorne and East Grinstead affected by the heavy rainfall.
