Major fire in Billingshurst

Firefighters are currently battling a '˜significant' blaze affecting two properties in Billingshurst.

Six crews are in attendance in The Alders, where two houses are understood to still be alight.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called to the incident at 4.45pm today, Monday, August 15.

A fire service spokesman said: “Six appliances are in attendance with officers and support appliances.

“It’s a fire in the roof space of two domestic properties. Jets and breathing apparatus are in use.”

He added that it was a ‘significant incident’ for the fire service.

It is not yet clear if anyone has been injured.
