Sussex morning travel bulletin for Sunday, February 7

Here is your Sussex travel update for this morning (Sunday, February 7).

A number of train services have been cancelled today due to adverse weather conditions and expected heavy snowfall.

Southern said no trains will run between Oxted and Uckfield but it will do everything it can to run trains between London Victoria and East Grinstead.

There will also be no trains running between Hastings, Ore and Ashford International today.

Southern said trains which usually terminate at Ore will instead finish their journeys at Hastings.

It is expected that replacement buses and taxis will not be able to run due to road conditions, the firm said.

Southeastern said there will be no trains running between Hastings and Tonbridge today.

It also said given the severity of the forecast, the route is also expected to be closed tomorrow (Monday, February 8), with no replacement transport available.

Part of the line running between Hastings and London Charing Cross remains shut for almost two weeks, due to landslips.

Southeastern, which runs the route, said three separate landslips over a 150-metre stretch of track have occurred near High Brooms.

The line between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells will be closed until February 20.

On the roads, there are no reports of congestion so far this morning.

But Highways England said roadworks will be taking place on the A23 southbound between the junctions with the A2300 and the A281, meaning one lane will be closed from 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow (Monday, February 8).

Other roadworks, water main work and gas main work are taking place across the county today.

There are temporary traffic signals due to water main work on Sea Road near the Co-op in Winchelsea Beach.

In Hastings, there are temporary traffic lights in place due to construction on B2093 The Ridge at Chowns Hill.

In St Leonards, there are temporary traffic signals due to gas main work on A259 Bexhill Road from Bridgeway to Bulverhythe Road.

Near Battle, temporary traffic lights have been installed because of water main work on the A2100 Battle Hill near St Mary’s Terrace.

In the west of the county, temporary traffic lights are in place due to telecoms work on A2032 Littlehampton Road at Stone Lane.

There are also temporary traffic signals due to gas main work on Aldwick Street near Aldwick Village Green.

Temporary traffic are in place because of water main work on A286 Birdham Road both ways between Dell Quay Road and B2201.

And there are temporary traffic signals due to gas main work on A281 Guildford Road at Merryfield Drive.
