Update: Heavy traffic after A23 crash

A crash caused severe tailbacks on the A23 northbound near Albourne Junction, this morning (Tuesday January 5).

One lane was closed after an accident involving a number of vehicles, reports said at about 7.20am.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “There’s been a multi-vehicle collision on the A23 by Brighton Road jct (B2117). One lane is blocked northbound with severe tailbacks.”

The incident has now been cleared and traffic is flowing freely.
