TRAVEL WARNING: Seven weeks of roadworks

Road users are being advised that seven weeks of roadworks will start today (July 27).

The gas main replacement, on the A23 Brighton Road, Hooley, will be carried out by Southern Gas Networks and are expected to last approximately seven weeks.

It is being carried out using narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit. Access to and from Church Lane and Star Lane will be closed throughout the project with signed diversions in place.

Highways England Asset Manager Janice Burgess said: “We have been working with Southern Gas Network to ensure that their work is carried out efficiently to minimise the disruption. I advise drivers to plan their journeys to allow extra time.”
