Jim Noble served for a brief spell on Pulborough Parish Council and was described by a former colleague as ‘extremely articulate’ and ‘helpful’ man.

Chairman of Pulborough Parish Council Ray Quested, who worked alongside Mr Noble, said: “Before being appointed chairman of the parish council I did serve for a brief time with Jim as a fellow councillor.

“Although I knew him only through our parish dealings, I always found him extremely articulate and forthright in his opinions.

“He was not one to suffer fools gladly nor enter into a long diatribe where one sentence would suffice.

“After leaving the council in 2008 he was extremely helpful to our parish clerk, Sarah Norman, in setting up and maintaining the parish council website.

“This was something that he did with the minimum of fuss and publicity which was typical of Jim and for which the council will always be grateful.

“He will be missed by family friends and colleagues and all who knew him.”

Mr Noble was co opted to the council back in June 2006 and stood for re-election in 2007 serving on the Finance and Policy Committee before resigning in 2008.

He went on to design the parish council website and helped with administration work before training the current parish clerk to take over his digital role.

As well as his services to the council Mr Noble was the founder and president of the Pulborough Computer Club and also served as a Trustee for the Village Hall.

Pulborough Parish Council posted the following message on their website: “It was with great sadness that the parish council has heard the news that Jim died at the end of last year.

“Jim was an extremely active member of the community and was a parish councillor for many years as well as a Trustee of the Village Hall.

“This Parish Council website was actually designed by Jim and for many years he acted as the administrator before training the clerk to take over in this role.

“He will be dearly missed by those who knew him and our condolences go to his family.”
