Two new cabinet members have been appointed at Crawley Borough Council.
Labour leader Peter Lamb has picked Michael Jones as cabinet member for public protection and community engagement and Andrew Skudder as cabinet member for resources.
He has renamed some of the cabinet portfolios to better reflect the council’s priorities.
Mr Jones and Mr Skudder join five other cabinet members:
- Mr Lamb, leader of the council
- Stephen Joyce, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for housing
- Colin Lloyd, cabinet member for environmental services and sustainability
- Chris Mullins, cabinet member for wellbeing
- Peter Smith, cabinet member for planning and economic development.
Mr Lamb said: “I’m delighted to add Michael’s and Andrew’s knowledge and experience to the Cabinet.
“These appointments ensure that we’re well placed to meet the challenges in the year ahead and to focus on our priorities of jobs, home and community.
“I’ve changed four of the portfolios with the aim of making the council more outward-looking because in the current climate we need to be ready to fight for improvements for Crawley in all areas – not just those formally delegated to the authority.”
CBC’s first cabinet meeting after the election will be on Wednesday June 10.
Earlier this month Labour lost several seats to the Conservatives in Crawley, holding on to their majority by the slimmest of margins.
